Cultural appropriation of bullshit is still bullshit. Anyone who takes the river bank scene from Kamala Markandeya’s “Two Virgins” as a source for a successful “yoni egg” product for white women consumers deserves her success.
But the concern of this article is white women’s health, so at best it’s vibes are white feminist. Selling acai, coconut, avocado, ginger, turmeric, star anise and now ashwagandha is harmless to the self preoccupied white women consumers, so it won’t get a capitalist feminist take down. But the harm that these cash crop monocultures inflict on local agricultural economies and the fragile dependency they create on Western consumers’ whims deserve a socialist feminist analysis.
