Fabulous! I encounter this #ButIAmNotLikeThat phenomenon not just in writing but in conversation with almost all my white lib-prog friends. Sadly even they are blind to the privilege that allows them to give their own self-image or feelings primacy over the issues being discussed. It is a deathly bore, the entire conversation gets side tracked by their examples of goodness or #HowCanYouSayThatAboutMe? . If they feel personally attacked or ashamed to be included in WhitePeople, they should explicitly become race traitors. They can stop talking about “societal ills” and introduce discussions of the actions of white people that perpetuate those ills.
