It is a myth that digitizing everything is any more beneficial to “trees” or the environment. Data center power requirements alone are already at 1.8% of total US power consumption. That said, I haven’t found any analysis of the play-off between “trees” for paper for printed memos and broader environmental effects of electronic storage and dissemination.
