Luke Oakridge and Kellyann Conway, I think our driving values and concern for women’s lives and rights are similar, so think of my comments as more of a discussion than an argument.

I think a “true feminist” would examine more than just “choice”, which was mistakenly associated with (and sadly continues to be, via pop versions of abortion rights) feminism some decades ago. A “true feminist” approach would be to examine and transform the systemic and structural constructs in place that lead to power and other inequities, while supporting women making forced choices to get by within the system and structure we currently have.

To use an analogy I first saw developed in Gloria Steinem’s essays, a “true anti-racist” would not think that Black people having “choice” is enough to claim we have an equitable society.

I stop to miau to cats.
