SF’s newer denizens are a bunch of ignorant selfish louts
Good article, with really good illustrations. And good proposed solutions, none of which is radical at all. But haha, the missing ingredient is will and most of SF’s newer denizens are a bunch of ignorant selfish louts. What percentage of white “techies” (most of whom, admit it, are just analysts, marketers, HR and accountants etc.) or even brogrammers who live in the Mission are even aware of the murals, let alone know their history? Do they look up when they are vomiting in Clarion Alley between bars? How many of them think about who cleans up after them, what language they speak and where the invisible underclass lives?
You expect residents of a city which doesn’t have free public toilets nor sufficient homeless shelters, who complain incessantly about the filthy streets and high taxes, to want to solve any problem other than their own? They care less than a shit about your city and community and the people who make it special.
As far as racial diversity — as far as blacks and latin@s are concerned, SF is just as racially segregated as Buffalo, NY or Detroit, MI.
