Totally agreed, thank you for pointing this out. I really appreciated the statement the family made about multi-racial as opposed mixed-race, but there was something that bothered me I couldn't pinpoint - their privilege and lack of awareness of carrying it! Black people have a hard time in India, they don't get the privilege extended to this Upper Caste mixed Asian/Hispanic/American White family. We Indians display it on all fronts - racism, colorism, casteism, not to mention the anti-communalism of Hindu Indians.
Asian and White Hispanic people have the privilege to be "cute" or "exotic" and to be considered as such by the dominant white caste, and they fully take advantage of it without standing beside Black people in their anti-racism fight.
