Yup, i remember white women tennis players wearing extremely short skirts that would titillate some viewers (and the inevitable “sports” photographer for some tabloid who would take a panty revealing shot). I don’t recall any of them ever getting scolded for “disrespecting the short and the venue”. If they want to increase “respect for the sport” they should ban Sharapova.

This isn’t unique to tennis though: FloJo and other black women track superathletes got the same racist treatment for their choice of dress or nails, they had to persevere more and dominate more — which they did but shouldn’t have had to - to get the respect they deserved.
